Following the positive outcome of the first seminar on “Creative Thinking to Address HR Challenges in Tourism” which was held on the 25th September 2008, the Industry Human Resources Development Unit within the MTA is organising another seminar for the local tourism and hospitality operators.

This second seminar will address the issue of “Developing Innovative Services in Tourism” and it will be held on Wednesday 29th October 2008 at the Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort St Julians.

The seminar will be addressed by local speaker Ms Francesca Balzan who currently occupies the post of Curator of Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum, Mdina. Ms Balzan will take the Museum as a model and she will show how it is possible to keep a business active by introducing innovative services and adopting a range of exciting concepts to keep clients interested and returning. Whilst key note speaker Mr Frederik Leloup, founder and Managing Director of Sailing Team and CEO of Carbon Challenge Academy will identify stakeholders to think outside the box in order to produce an innovative Maltese tourism product. Mr Leloup will support his ideas with two company specific case studies.

This seminar is targeted towards any business owners, development managers or supervisors who are responsible for tourist establishments or other tourism-related support services, from both large and small businesses.

The next seminar from this series of Innovative Seminars will be on Friday 28th November 2008. The seminar will focus on “Marketing Tourism Products and Services creatively”.

The Industry Human Resources Development Unit within the MTA is responsible for the development of national human resource development initiatives for the tourism industry. This is done through promoting a service culture within the industry thereby raising service standards; through building a strong liaison with employment, education and training institutions on actions required for the industry; and through the implementation of EU funded projects relating to human resources development.
