Minister Austin Gatt has given the police documentation showing that the engineer who was supposed to be certifying works on Manwel Dimech Bridge was deliberately altering test results.

The documentation (reproduced here) is a report received by the Minister from the chairman responsible for roads within the Transport Authority. It reveals communications between the contractor and the engineer which shows that the engineer has been changing the said results.

The ADT said it confirmed that the allegedly altered results have no dangerous implications on the strength or the stability of the bridge. They could, however, lead to higher maintenance costs in the long run.

The document goes back to March 28th and explicitly states that he will pretend that the tests were conducted over Easter time and that the engineer was going to change the values of the text.
